CLUB FOR UNESCO OF PIRAEUS AND ISLANDS – INTERNATIONAL CHARITABLE AID FUND
SUPPORTING GIFTED CHILDREN “KUN”
Within the program “PEOPLE OF THE SUN” and the dialogue among cultures, the Association of International Charitable Aid Fund Supporting Gifted Children “KUN” from the city Yakutia (also known as Sakha Republic) of Russia, visited a few days ago our country to cooperate with the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands.
Specifically, the three days between 19 and May 21, 2016 a three – day conference on communication (communication) under the “PEOPLE OF THE SUN” which was held in the seaside complex Verde & Mare Bungalows, in Kokkoni Corinth where the members of the Association were accommodated throughout the duration of their stay in Greece. At the end of the Congress, an agreement of cooperation between the Association KUN and the Group for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands was signed. Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands and Member of the Executive Board of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (WFUCA) for Europe and North America awarded with the Club’s special honorary plaque Mrs. Nikolaeva Araida, President of the Association KUN, Mrs. Shmelova Olena, Vice President and Mrs. Oshustanova Matrena Director and commemorative diplomas to all members of the Association, stating characteristically “it is a great pleasure and honor for the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands the new collaboration that begins with KUN Club which boasts a great work in Yakutia. Our cooperation is very promising and definitely will develop even further our efforts for the dialogue among cultures of to cultivate a culture of peace“.
Thereafter, the delegation visited the Social Structures against poverty that Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands has created in cooperation with the municipality of Corinth in Perigiali.
In the coming days the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands, took over the tour for the members of the Association to Acropolis, the new Acropolis Museum and the rest of the historic center of Athens in order to learn about our history and our heritage followed by a full day cruise to the islands Aegina, Hydra and Poros of the Saronic Gulf.
On Tuesday 24 May, under the musical and dance Event “The Dialogue of Civilizations”, which was dedicated to World Culture Day and the Social Structures against poverty, members of the Association KUN had the morals and customs of the area of Yakutia through traditional choreographies and songs and the traditional ceremony called “Thanksgiving fire” on Greek land. The festival closed with the players and fans of the show dancing together, the traditional dance of Yakutia “Osso-Hi”, who has entered the Guinness Record for the largest choreographed undergone (13,000 people). The event took place in the center of Corinth.
On the last day of their stay in Greece, the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands could not bid farewell to the KUN Association members despite a festive evening full of flavor and tradition color from Greece and which was held in Verde & Mare.
The meeting was also held under the Greek-Russian friendship year and devoted to the return of the sculptures and marbles of the Parthenon as all the events of the Club for the year 2016.
